The Venus Effect
If you've got a clear sky soon after sunset tonight and you look to the west where the Sun has just set, you'll see Venus and she will appear to be moving gradually down towards the horizon, just as usual. It is not 'vertical movement' that planets lose when they are 'stationary' but lateral movement. Venus is hovering at the same degree of the same sign for a while.
